TM3 MOULDING MORTAR is a unique product. It consists of 2 coloured epoxy pastes which when mixed in equal proportions may be shaped and trowelled, or placed, onto existing timber for repairs, filling of holes and the making good of gaps and spaces where decayed timber has been removed from structural members. Cured TM3 MOULDING MORTAR can be sanded and treated like wood, i.e. by planing or shaping with a chisel or file.

Packaging:

TM3 MOULDING MORTAR is packed in 2 litre units - 1 litre of base 1 litre of curing system, colour coded for ease of mixing. The two components are supplied in separate non returnable plastic containers. Also supplied in box sets of 4 x 2 litre packs (4x1lt base and 4x1lt hardener)

Application:

The mixed TM3 MOULDING MORTAR should be placed firmly into the cavity or aperture and consolidated either by hand or with a steel or wooden float. Ensure that the volume of material used is slightly in excess of that required to fill the hole. Final profiling is to be carried out after initial cure. A Thickness of 50mm or more may be installed in one application. On larger areas the finished surface may be improved by patting or smoothing with a spatula or float which has been wetted with water containing detergent.

Coverage:

When the total of both components are mixed together the stated volume of 2 litres will be produced. As a guide, a complete pack will fill a void of 30mm x 30mm x 2.0m.

Cure Schedule:

Rate of cure and exotherm will be related to ambient temperature, material temperature and volume of material installed. Profiling and mechanical treatment can be carried out between 4 and 24 hours after installation. TM3 MOULDING MORTAR will continue to cure, albeit more slowly, at temperatures down to -5ºC.

Cured Properties:

  • Compressive Strength:     4.5N/mm²
  • Tensile Strength:             c 11N/mm²
  • Flexural Strength:            c 27N/mm²
  • Specific Gravity:              0.8

TM3 MOULDING MORTAR will not shrink. It will float on water: it will absorb paint and stain after sanding.

Specific Uses:

Repair of timber softwood joinery in-situ window frames, replacement of decayed timber, both hardwood and softwood.

Cleaning of Tools:

Uncured TM3 MOULDING MORTAR may be readily removed with Rotafix S200 PC Solvent Cleaner. Mechanical methods are required to remove cured material.
