History
The name Wykamol is synonymous with quality and innovation in the wood preservation and damp proofing market. We are a specialist manufacturing company but our origins go back to 1934 when the founder, Stanley Richardson, helped to deal with a death watch beetle problem at Winchester cathedral. As a local chemist he was approached to make-up some insecticidal treatments using a 19th century recipe but soon realised he could make something better (using experience gained working as an entomologist in West Africa). Indeed, his studies of the death watch beetle proved so useful to the dioscean architects they eventually asked him to take over the project and the first branch of Richardson and Starling Ltd. was formed! By the 1960's Stanley decided to concentrate on manufacturing but the R&S branches continued as independent Accredited Wykamol Users (www.aawu.co.uk). Most changed their names to reflect their new independence but in Scotland the R&S name continues even today.

Throughout the last 40 years Wykamol has consistently pioneered new product development and provided the very highest standards of customer service. Today we supply a broad range of Products direct to specialist restoration contractors/local authorities etc. and are happy to advise architects, builders and private home owners concerning individual projects. We pride ourselves on our expertise in dealing with the special challenges of rising/penetrating and condensation damp, dry rot, woodworm infestations and structural repair. Also, through our network of Accredited Contractors, we are able to offer peace-of-mind guarantees backed-up by independent insurance.
In 1996 Wykamol purchased Stanhope Chemical products Ltd., another leading brand in the remedial market. In 2000 both companies merged with Lectros International Ltd. to form the Wykamol Group. These developments allow us to present easily the most diverse product portfolio in the preservation sector and we look forward to maintaining our reputation for service and quality for many years to come!
