BASEMENT CONVERSION

Water penetration below ground can be difficult to control; it is not unusual to find basements where two or three different systems have been applied (e.g. bitumens, cellar paint, renders) all of which have failed for one reason or another.

Nevertheless, a proper understanding of the causes of dampness in basements and the installation of an appropriate system can transform a damp, cool semi-redundant cellar in to a dry, and warm extension to the normal living accommodation.

Choosing the right system for your basement requires an assessment by a properly qualified and competent contractor. Factors to consider include water tables, types of substrate and the final use to which the basement will be put (e.g. will ceiling heights be adequate?).

CM8 - Wykamol CM8 is a cavity drain membrane and is manufactured from high density polyethylene (HDPE). It is impermeable and resistant to the usual chemicals in the building construction.

CM FLOOR - A low profile membrane (3mm) specially designed for fast-track sealing of damp concrete at ground level - no need for extensive surface preparation normally required with liquid DPM systems(epoxies etc) and no curing times before floor finishes can be applied.

WYKAMOL SLIMLINE - is a tough damp-proofing membrane that can be laid on top of damp and contaminated concrete floors, or newly laid floor slabs in above ground applications. A wide choice of flooring types can then be laid on top, for example screeds, particle board and laminated wooden flooring. Insulation can be used where required in conjunction with SLIMLINE and the membrane is suitable for use with underfloor heating systems.

Plugs and tapes                    

CM SUPER BRICK PLUGS - Wykamol superplugs are 10mm fixings to use with membrane systems, they have a re-inforced head for easy use and take a size 10 screw into the head of the plug.  For battens or metal framing systems 75mm long these plugs will fit into all substrates.
